Technology

Foam core fiberglass technology.
In today's competitive manufacturing environment the need to reduce material mass is vital. Windspeed uses the proven concept of cored sandwich construction to proved light weight, high strength composite panels and products.

Design principles
The foam cored fiberglass consists of two high strength fiberglass skins separated by a core material. The fiberglass skins are designed to withstand the tension and compression forces and the core absorbs the sheer stresses. The further the fiberglass laminates are apart (core thickness) the stiffer the panel. Windspeed changes the density of core material to absorb greater impact loads.

Windspeed foam cored fiberglass can be manufactured with conical or cylindrical developments and compound curves.

Foam cored fiberglass panel and product innovation.
Windspeed has use DIAB foam core materials and technology since 1985. The marine industry was first to capitalize on the light weight high strength corrosion resistance and durability advantages of foam cored fiberglass. The motor home industry has recently followed the marine industry. Huge opportunities for new applications of this technology are being seized by early adopters of this technology overseas.

Manufacture

    Manufacture process
Vacuum infusion technology.
Windspeed manufactures fiberglass composites in a single process using extreme vacuum pressure to infuse the fiberglass and core with thermoset resins which use exothermal heat to cure.

This process insures no air voids and excellent adhesion of the fiberglass laminates to the foam core.

Infusion molding enables Windspeed to cost-effectively producing a superior product which is environmentally friendly and sustainable.

Windspeed panels are built inside a giant plastic bag, which provides a clean workplace, protecting our staff and the environment from styrene fumes generated during manufacturing process.

To manufacture each 15m x 3m panel requires only 750 watts of energy, about the same as vacuuming the family home.

Windspeed cares about our planet and our carbon foot print.

Jointing

Jointing
Jointing system:
Windspeed has developed a panel to panel jointing system that enables quick assembly.

The fiberglass joints are shaped dry in the infusion stack then cast during the infusion process.

This joint design and integral manufacture enables the bonding adhesive to bond the structural fiberglass laminated together directly.

The panels are quickly and easily joined with adhesive Sika or Silicone.

The joints can be covered by most joint cover strips.

The joints are strong and durable.
RV's using Windspeed panels and jointing system have been subjected to winds up to 140 km/h and traveled thousands of km over very rough roads.

Delivery

National delivery

Windspeed uses a national furniture removal company for all interstate deliveries.
The panels are loaded into a shipping container at the Windspeed factory and transported by truck to the rail station. The shipping container is placed on the train and delivered to the nearest capital city, then the shipping container is loaded on a truck and delivered to your door. It arrives in the same container that it was packed in. This transport system minimizes the chances of damage during transit. Large quantities of panels can be freighted at a very competitive cost.
